Judith Hanks: Exploratory Practice: intercultural issues of trust in language education research

Date
Date
Thursday 2 February 2017, 12:00 to 13:30
Location
Edward Boyle Library Conference Room Level 7

This seminar presents findings from a project setting up a network of language learners, teachers, researchers and teacher-educators engaging in exploratory practice (EP) in Brazil, Turkey, and the UK. The EP principles offer a mutually beneficial way for practitioners to investigate their practice while prioritising Quality of Life. I argue for the need to trust practitioners to puzzle deeply about their language learning/teaching experiences and invite the audience to question rigid/traditional views and investigate their linguistically and culturally diverse contexts in productive, creative and motivating ways.
